Emoticon wars

If you’re a Facebook user, you would know about the “poke” function. You poke a friend. Your friend will see a notice that says you poked him or her and will most likely poke you back. It’s absolutely useless, but once the poking starts, it never ends. Everyone’s compelled to poke back whoever’s poked them.

My friend and I did this on Messenger last year – not with pokes, but with landslides of emoticons (especially animated ones). I send one emoticon repeated hundreds of times to my friend, and she sends another in the same fashion back. It served as a pathetic kind of entertainment during the summer holidays when we had absolutely nothing to do and to nearly get our computers stuck. I think it’s only us that are this crazy (or crazily bored).

Well, unless you have emoticon wars too.
