An original Web based Polygamy patcher

MSN Messenger Polygamy by ElectroSoft is a new tool which patches almost any version of MSN Messenger and Windows Live Messenger.

Unlike other patches, this one does it from within your browser in one click without having to download a patcher or application. This is because it is a Java applet, so the Java Runtime Environment is required.

Conversagent has changed its name

I received an announcement that Conversagent has changed its name:

Conversagent has changed its name to Colloquis (pronounced “cull oh’ kwis,” derives from the Latin word “colloquium,” meaning conversation). Click here to read more about the announcement.

The new home has been changed as well to buddyscript.colloquis.com and there is a new version of the SDK available in the downloads section.

Error 80004005 fixed in Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812

support

Following up on the announcement of an updated version of Windows Live Messenger, details of what has changed have been posted by Leah at the official Windows Live Messenger Space.

The biggie is a fix for error 80004005, caused by Messenger miscalculating the length of the local friendly name upon sign in:

Say limit is 6 characters per friendly name. Messenger would let me type “LeahJ” no problem, because it was counting the whole emoticon as one character, and thus my friendly name was 5 characters total. But the next time I tried to sign-in, Messenger would do a check which would count each character of the emoticon separately and thus “Leah:-)” added up to 7 characters, which is over the max limit of 6. Error.

Microsoft Messenger 6.0 for Mac coming later this year

Some news from the Mac side of things. This snippet is from the MacWorld News pages:

Microsoft Messenger for Mac 6.0, a new version of Microsoft’s instant messaging application, is coming “later this year,” according to the company. It will include features such as federation with Yahoo! Messenger, customized emoticons and spell check. Users will also be able to display personal messages or what song’s playing in iTunes.

As it looks, we will - again - have to wait for video and voice support.
