Try clicking the “Forget Me” link in the main messenger window. It worked for me.

For me, it seems to be fixed. Sort of. I’m not getting the “Due to connection problems” message anymore (when you click it, the Help files do not have a SINGLE thing about it) but a lot of the time, when I try to see the updates on someone’s space, it gives me a “This Space cannot be accessed at the moment”. And that’s about all. Sometimes I still feel like clobbering Windows Live Messenger though. =P

I have sign in - out problems with live msn messenger. it continiously signs in and signs out all the time.
I use a proxy server and since i installed it (me and other users) we have the same problem. (sign in -out all the time)
The other users (using the same proxy) that didnt update to live messenger have no problem at all.
I should also notice that when i found out the problem i unistalled the live messenger and installed an older version. However the problem remains.
I dont think though that is a network problem because the other users that never updated to the live messenger have no problem at all.

My problem is the following: i had an id with the email of my provider as log in. Since i changed providers i had to get another address so i thought it would be a good idea to get a live email for my messenger.
I usually use the windows live today window to check the forecast, but when i made the new account, to my surprise it chose amsterdam as default, ive tried in the settings to change to the city i live in (holland) but i can’t seem to be able to fix this. i’ve already written to the customer service, but they also have not been able to help me. I know that it can be done because i had it before the new email address.
Does anyone have any suggestjions?

MSN messenger has really annoyed me for the past 3 months or so.

My live messenger’s had the same problem for the last few days.
The cure for my problem was that the Data Execution Prevention was turned on for my Messenager Live somehow. I have selected it as program to avoid and it works fine now.

Maybe It Is Because You Have Two Different Versions On Your System Because I Tried To Use Both Of Them But Mine Never Even Let Me On 7.5 When I Installed Windows Live Messenger

#1 Changing your password
I encountered this error myself last night and I must admit it was a bit scary as if Alzheimer kicked in already and I completely forgot my password. So what I did was change the password at Passport’s Member Services. I had been signed out of my Passport account and the same, correct password was also being denied! So after answering my Secret Question I was finally allowed to change your password.
That “passport password” combo did the trick for me, but I can imagine there’s more to this error than just that, so feel free to comment.
#2 Quick Delete and Fix Attempt (by Jonathan Kay)
Even just trying this solution you will lose all your custom emoticons and display pictures. We recommend backing up your personalized images using the CE/DP Manager before advancing.
Important: Close MSN Messenger completely until the tray icon is gone.
- Windows 98 or Millenium users
1) Click Start > Run
2) Type: %windir% and press enter.
3) Open Application Data and then the Microsoft folder.
4) Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and delete it.
Note: if you’re using Profiles with Windows 98/ME, you’ll need to go to the Profiles folder, choose your username and then go to the Application Data folder (then continue with the same

since installing the windows live I have had endless problems. I’m posting this for my wife since Microsoft can’t get their crap together enough for her to use any kind of mail right now or see certain things on pages to even post a reply or ask for help. First of all, I don’t like having Windows Live forced on me especially the way that it came. Here’s what happened…I’ve repeatedly turned off the auto updates on my PC and guess what ? It freaking does the updates ANYWAYS!!! One of them was Live Messenger which I DID NOT ASK FOR NOR WANTED TO USE!!! When this happened all sorts of garbage started going wrong with it. Fortunately, I use outlook express and was able to get to my email from their. My wife can not she launches her email (hotmail) from Messenger and all she gets is a blank page and about 1 in 50 times she gets an error that says it is not working at all. I managed to get into her mail once, somehow by accident and have not been able to get back in. Thinking she might have the wrong password she tried variations of the password and then hotmail (or live?) locked her out because of too many tries. I then went to a help area for Windows Live (Windows Dead) and tried to fill out a form there. Nearly all of the boxes in the form had red stars next to them so I had to fill all of them in but when I got down to the 3 description boxes that HAD TO BE FILLED…well they were empty. I guess microsoft desn’t want to hear complaining about their broken products.

Messenger wouldn’t so I removed it, took it off the regedit and msnmsgr.exe off of windows task manager.
Reloaded an older verson (7.5). Didn’t work until I hit the messenger fix it button and restarted. good luck at least it’s something to use.
I am so sad. I have grown quite fond of this messenger that I accidentally downloaded when I went looking to download another. After the update I started having issues. I am going back to the other messenger that I used to use, for now anyhow. I like the less obtrusive appearance of the other (tho they now look very similar, I still find the other looks a tad more elegant in its simplicity). Sadly, it does not have some of the features that I have come to rely on. Especially the feature that allows messages to be sent when your offline, and delivered upon login. Simply priceless for contacting those folks who dont check their emails *grumble* …
I seem to be having atleast one issue that was mentioned above, and possibly more? And like others, it started at that last update. (and coincided with my router being updated). I am uncertain, but it may be an issue between the two…
When I login, I have non issue, at first. I can see everyone, and I believe I can see who is actually on and who isn’t(?). But upon sending a message(90% of the time)… or sending a file(99% of the time)… I freeze up.
My chat box goes grey and I am then told that ‘etc’ messages/file could not be sent. Then my internet also cuts out, and doesnt connect untill I reset my router. I can then log back into WLM, and then go thru the same series of events. >
*sigh*
I have uninstalled and reinstalled WLM several times. I have opened the recommended ports in the firewall built into my router. I have gone as far as my limited understanding of computers will take me. I gave up.
The messenger I am using currently worked fine after I opened said ports. It DLs slower, but it works none the less. I am patient and am able to work with the slower DLs, and even tolerating the loss of offline messaging (with the exception of the one who never checks his email *grumble*). BUT, I would be ver happy to return to your vree and nifty service if and when it is working to a point that I can work with it.
I am patient, and not very particular when it comes to function. It either works or it doesn’t. Fast is better than slow, true ^~

my problem is whenever i try to open me email, it sends me to match the characters then to the hotmail sign in once i sign it it sends me back to match the characters, and keeps repeating itself, any help would be great at all as no body from microsoft can take the time to fix their problems, but if it were their computer it would be fixed in a flash. please help. juanita

Did you get any answers for this problem? I am experiencing the same problem. Suddenly it´s like my user name and password do not work for either the hotmail account or live messenger.. yesterday it worked but not today.

Hi, I have not been able to launched my Windows Live Messenger lately. So I have re-installed few times but still get the same result. I clicked on the “Windows Live Messenger” Icon.. it starts to run but once showed in taskbar and immediately disappeared. I have checked the registry and Group Policies. None of which was “Enable” to preventing Live MSN to run. However, I have no problem of running old MSN Messenger. Appreciated if someone can help. many thanks

I’m getting the same problem as others. “Windows Live Messenger has encountered a problem etc.” I ‘ve just uninstalled it and reinstalled, but the problem persists!! This is not tenable in view of all the people who have highlighted the problem(s) for over 6 months. Do get your act together!!

I am having problems with msn live
When I log on everything seems to be fine but None of my contacts can type me a message until I type to them first
Also when they leave offline messages it does not show up when I log on. I have checked the settings for offline and its all ticked.
I recently rebuilt my pc and reinstalled the new msn live from the website and this happens.
When I see one of my contacts online I type them a message and it says message cannot be delivered.
Is there a problem with MSN
I’m having the same issue as viper.
My contacts keep complaining that they can’t address me.
The only way they’re able to do so is that I talk to them first. When I do so there’s a time window of more or less a minute while they can type just fine.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that this issue only took over my current mail address. I logged on with an older account and everything is working properly. Everyone can talk to me etc.
The thing is, I don’t want to get back to that mail nor create a new one. Problems like these ought to be solved, not avoided.
Too bad I can’t solve this myself.. I’ll be expecting some feedback

it keeps freezing on me. its been doin it lately n its pissin me offffffffffffff bad.
i go to open it, and itll freeze . all the other programs would work tho, like id have itunes, internet n shit all up n theyd be workin fine . then i go 2 click in the email bit to type it, n it freezes .. for a good couple minutes before the error report shit comes up

Okay, I repaired msn and it seems to have sorted the problem

Seriously, I had a bunch of funny emoticons I’d like to use, but I can’t fin them. They’re not in “SHOW ALL EMOTICONS” and when I try to create one with the same “name” or “image”, It says that it’s already use. Those emoticons are somewhere, but I can’t use them .. Please Help!! I want my emoticons back !

What´s wrong with my msn?? Everytime I´m in the middle of a conversation it just logs out and every window closes by its own and I get this error message, saying sorry for the inconvenience but there has been some errors.. Does anybody know how can I fix it??

I have several of the problems above..
1) Undelivered messages from me ( Sometimes there is a “message undelivered” and on other times seems to go through but my contacts do not get the message)
2) Undelivered messages to me.. (this has caused a lot of tension)
SO I am left thinking my friends are not replying to me, when they have.
3) Cannot sign in on occasion (I have to keep trying)
Now some friends and my sister are trying to move back to MSN 7.5!
Any help would be really great.
