Person B: NOT WORRY. The Messenger team is working hard to fix the problem. They sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this is causing Messenger customers. They’re asking that people be patient and check back on the blog for more information.
Person A: Guess what I heard? Even the Messenger Blogger, Leah, is running into this problem on her computer. So she’s gonna make SURE this gets fixed as fast as possible. Isn’t that reassuring?
Person B: That is very reassuring. Will she let us know when there is more information?

When I try and sign in to windows live messenger it dosent work.When I try and repair it says theres a problem with the key ports.Windows say its problem ‘80072efd’.On there website they say its a problem with my firewall settings or my proxy settings.
iv tried loads of tings but it just wont work .would really appreciate help

Ditto. However, I have one pc and two laptops – the laptops are identical and brand new – one is fine and gets in fine and the other gets the 80072efd error with the problem appearing to be related to the key ports. So I went through everything, in both laptops – they are identical. So why the problem with one and not the other? I have done the firewall, spyware and everything else that has been suggested by everyone and the one still gets in and the other doesn’t. It is very strange. I’d go so far as to wonder if its a total MSN thing and not a computer/software issue at our end at all.
I have to say that i’m less that impressed with BETA crap.
I have installed the latest version of hotmail messenger, and I can,t be able to setup my web cam, and micro, can you help me???
delete the windows live mail and msngrs from your control panel that will allow u to work in the older version of hotmail.

I can sign in yeh, but after about 2 minutes of being online (although I appear offline when I sign in firstly) it disconnects me, and then reconnects shortly after.. I can’t change my status, start a conversation, open hotmail, or anything like that ‘cos it goes off before I get the chance =\

Bill, I believe there is an option in the Messenger settings somewhere, that allows you to choose whether or not emoticons will show up for you… I would check to see what is going on with the box for that option. If it asks to show them, check the box. If it asks to hide them or something, make sure it is unchecked.

I can successfully use the messenger. And when I first got my computer I could use the web cam with the messenger as well. But after my third or forth time trying to use it there was a message that popped up saying: ” Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0×8ac70202)” And I can’t figure out how to get my web cam to work again. Does anyone have any ideas?!

yes when I put my name and password on my sign in thing and ckick remember my name and password and sign in automatically it doesn’t stay there when I restart my computer why is that
messenger tries to initiate and comes up with a message that states windows live messanger is having a problem, we will notify you if a solution is available. I updated to 8.5 2 weeks ago and it worked for about 2 days then back to the same message. SUGGESTIONS??????

my messenger was working great till i downloaded the new version, now the stupid thing hardly ever lets me sign in, just says that the service is temporarily univalible and try again later… sooooo frustrating…
havn’t been able to sign on to MSN or Windows Live Messenger for a couple of weeks, what gives? i download the new one with your DP’s on the left. dunno what version it is becasue i can’t check. when i try to sign on i get one of 2 messeges, “your contact list is unavailable at this time please try later” or “there is a problem with your connection, you may not be connected to the internet” so i click trouble shoot and then it decides that the key ports are the issue, i click repair and it takes FOR EVER to do anything.

I downloaded messenger 8.0 and now my web cam doesn’t work. I’ve tried switching on the web cam, and other fixes. For computers with Windows XP their web cams work. I have Vista. Did you blow it?
