Microsoft tries to stop MSN Messenger viruses

Windows Live Messenger

With the new leaked build 732 of MSN Messenger 7, Microsoft tries to set a halt to the amount of MSN Messenger viruses that spread the internet recently. From now on, “unsafe” file transfers will be blocked immediately. The following file extentions are blocked and the receiver will be notified about an attempted unsafe file transfer:

EXE (executable), COM (executable), SCR (screensaver), BAT (batch file), PIF (MS-Dos executable), VBS (Visual Basic Script), JS (Java Script), HTA (HTML Application) REG (Windows Registration), MSI (Microsoft Installer).

Too bad compressed files like ZIP and RAR are not deep scanned.

Contact list limit doubled to 300

For all of you who have LOTS of friends, good news! Just a few hours ago, the contact list limit was doubled from 150 to 300 contacts. So, who’s first to reach 300?

TabServe config updated

I’ve just updated the config data for TabServe to the latest beta config, this will enable Dynamic Display Pictures among other things, the standard, news and image searches will use Google instead of MSN, the text ad at the bottom of IM windows has been removed, and the Search button below the Send button has been removed. All of these options will be customisable per user in the next version of TabServe, and the config updating will be more automated.
