Fomine Real-Time Communication Server for Windows Messenger

Fomine Real-Time Communication Server is based on the industry standard protocols. That is why it is completely compatible with Microsoft Windows Messenger.

Fomine Real-Time Communications Server turns Microsoft Windows Messenger into a powerful network communication, file sharing and audio/video conferencing utility, making it a cost-effective solution for real-time communication within an office or an entire organization.

Fomine Real-Time Communications Server can be used for organizing voice and video conferencing, sending and receive instant messages, exchanging files or collaborating using the program's whiteboard feature.

Fomine's standards-based SIP instant messaging server provides effective real-time communication within a local network. The application works on all Microsoft Server Operating Systems, including NT and Server 2003, and utilizes all of the advantages these systems provide. It is a fully scalable server application, which means this utility can be used in networks of all sizes - from small mom-and-pop businesses to global corporations.

Fomine Real-Time Communications Server is very easy to deploy and setup. Managing users (accounts) is an easy process that is done through the program's intuitive GUI. Best of all, the program can be tried free of charge. The free trial version has a five-user limit and no time restrictions.

South Korean IM company sues Microsoft

Daum Communications Corp, South Korea's top Internet portal, said on Monday it was suing Microsoft Corp and its Korean unit for alleged unfair business practices related to instant messaging software.

“Microsoft used its dominant market position by bundling its Instant Messenger program to its Windows XP operating system and that has caused significant damage to Daum,” Daum said in a statement. “By using its dominance in PC operating systems, Microsoft is excluding rivals from Internet messenger markets.”

Daum, which has its own messaging service, said it had filed a 10 billion won ($8.74 million) indemnity suit at the Seoul District Court.

FBI wants to wiretap all communication

The FBI has made a proposal to the FCC that would require all Internet Providers to rewire their current system in order to make wiretapping accessible to the FBI. Experts claim that if the new proposal were to pass, MSN Messenger, Xbox Live and any voice over Internet protocol would be accessible for wiretapping.

The 85-page filing includes language that could be interpreted as forcing companies to build backdoors into everything from instant messaging and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) programs to Microsoft’s Xbox Live game service. New services that do not support a backdoor for the police would become illegal, and companies would be given 15 months to make sure that existing services comply.

It’s still a proposal so the FCC still has to decide if they will approve the draft or not. But given the fact that the current Bush administration support eavesdropping, the FCC will take it very seriously.

I think just like Marc Rotenberg, director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, so I will quote what he said about this issue: “I don’t think it’s a reasonable claim. The FCC should seriously consider where the FBI believes its authority [...] to regulate new technologies would end. What about Bluetooth and USB?”

Also, why should a domestic entity like the FBI be allowed to inspect an international network like the internet?

For people wanting to secure their instant messages, I recommend Simp Lite for MSN Messenger.
