Interview with Patchou

What can we expect from you in the future?

Projects for the future hum… I got to see the new OAV of Love Hina that has just been released in Japan, I have to put my Receiver in my Pronto… oh, you were talking about programming right?

Well, I’ve developed Messenger Plus! since beginning of December 2001 and, as I already told you, I still have lots of things to do. I will probably release a small patch (something like 1.42a) that will fix the bugs people found in the Parental Watch (I don’t test it much, that’s why it’s buggy. I apologize) and a friend of mine is currently making some code so that people, like me, who don’t use hotmail know when they have received new emails.

For the real future, I plan to release a version 2.00 with some great new stuff including (or not): multiple file send, Drag & Drop possibilities, much more logging stuff such as HTML format.

And, let’s dream a little, scripting for those who would like to add more than I have the time to. I get a lot of great ideas from my emails and from my forum; it’s just a matter of time before I implement them I suppose. I'm very sorry for that but, you can’t imagine how many things I have to do. Some of you might wonder what I’m doing these days on my computer.

I can’t say much about it, but I'll give you some info… the code name of this project is Active Plus (I know, that’s not very original). It’s based on the same technology I developed for Messenger Plus! but it will add something different to your Messenger. Actually, the real program is made by another company, I’m just doing the Messenger stuff for them. I personally believe that this program will rock! I absolutely believe in what this company is doing. With some luck, a public beta should be available somewhere in March. I can’t say more except that, for the first time of my life, I’m being paid for software that I’m developing at home! Hopefully you’ll hear about this program soon, in the mean time, I can’t say more.

People are imitating your program directly, Advanced Messenger Plus copies of all of your features even the Messenger integration. How do you react to your clones?

I didn’t even know that these software existed! Hum… what can I say about that… I’ve checked what they offer and that’s pretty good. I really like to know that I’m not the only one to do that kind of special add-on. However, using a slightly modified name for their software and ripping of some of my program designs shocks me. They should have come up with some really new concepts! Not trying to copy some of my program features, even to enhance them. Now that you’ve shown me that, I’m wondering if there’s a point for me to continue to work on Messenger Plus!. I prefer not to think about it too much.

Do you have an ultimate useless but very interesting media you want to share with us?

I’ve got better than that, an exclusive video that I made three years ago. I don’t really know why I’m giving you this and I’m sure that it will contribute to my image as a very intelligent and sensual person. Oh, by the way, it seems that some kind of girl stole my song idea… damn her :p. Download

Whats your startpage, your favorite web sites and what web browser do you use?

Its simply msn.com, it has everything I need. Of course, I could have said netscape.com but that would have been a terrible lie. And I absolutely hate Netscape Navigator.

With that one, I’m gonna make lots of friends. I’m just being honest, I used Netscape Navigator before and it was really good in its time but now, it’s just crap. The reason why I’m really angry with this company is that in the past years, instead of improving their software and continue to be better than Internet Explorer, they put all their efforts in court. Who’s the loser now? Anyway, I’m using Internet Explorer and I love it. It seems that Opera is nice too.
